Saturday in Michigan — Holland, Grand Haven, St. Joe 🌊

Saturday I headed to the beaches of Michigan after being on the road most of Friday. I was a little tired, but also excited to get to the lake. That whole stretch along Lake Michigan is somewhere I just keep going back to. It never gets old for me.

I went into Grand Haven first.

It was really windy… like borderline hard to walk straight windy. The waves were crashing, the sky had that mix of blue and clouds, and the red lighthouse just pops. I walked out on the pier, took some photos, stood there longer than I probably needed to.

On the drive over toward Holland, I kept seeing this bike path running along the road, The Lakeshore Trail. 🚴‍♀️

And I kept thinking… this would be such a good ride. I will definitely go back and do that another time, when it is not so windy.

I believe it goes for 20 miles one way, tucked along the trees and near the water in spots. Not the day for it with how strong the wind was, but it’s already in my head for next time. I’d love to go back when it’s warmer, not so windy, and just spend a few hours riding it.

Those are the things I notice now—little ideas for the next trip.

Then I made my way into Holland for the tulips.

They were just starting to peak. So much color everywhere. I slowed down a lot here, got close to them, took my time shooting. I didn’t want to rush through it. It’s one of those things you wait all year to see and then it’s gone quickly.

By the end of the day, I drove down to St. Joseph to stay the night.

I always like ending there. It’s quieter than some of the other spots and just feels easy. After a couple days of driving and being out, it was a good place to land.

Honestly, this whole area just feels like a reset for me.

Water, small towns, space to move around… and now apparently a bike ride I need to come back for.
